Organizing and co-hosting the first African conferences on Emerging Infectious Diseases in collaboration with the West African Task Force for Research into Emerging Infectious Diseases (WATER) in Dakar, Senegal. The conference was held to accelerate the support for recovering Ebola patients, survivors and for the evaluation of potential treatment and vaccines in West Africa. The meeting outcomes have become known as the Dakar Declaration, which sets out the physical and human capacity deficiencies in most African sub-regions.(January 2015)
